AGM and 7th Meeting of the 174th Session (1994-1995)
The Annual General Meeting and seventh meeting of the session will be held within Merchiston Campus of Napier University on Monday 3rd April 1995 at 6:45pm.
The fascination of golf and achieving perfection has attracted serious scientific attention over decades.
The challenge of hitting a small ball with a "stick" effectively and consitently has attracted physicians and scientists to propoud theories on how best to tackle the task from time immemorial.
Such studies have led to the evolution of golf clubs with heads of size, shape and weight in profusion together with shaft stiffness, etc., taken into account to match the players physique. The choice of golf balls to perform with is large and all these developments are legalised by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club.
Golf courses are being redesigned and modified to test the expertise of even the most professional golfer.
Perhaps it is the complexity of the game which hold the golfer captive or is it the constant thought that things will get better!
Mr McKirdy has made a long standing study of the physics of golf and will cover findings from the early days to the present day. Even some simplification to the task of playing good golf will be more than helpful!
