4th Meeting of the 175th Session (1995-1996)

Ecological Engineering: A glimpse into the 21st Century

Angus Marland
M.D. Watershed Systems

The fourth meeting of the session will be held within Merchiston Campus of Napier University on Monday 15th January 1996 at 7pm.

This illustrated lecture will describe a new generation of natural wastewater treatment systems known as Living Machines which have been pioneered by Dr John Todd a biologist with an international reputation. These incorporate wastes into a set of sequenced, complete ecologies which achieve advanced or tertiary levels of treatment in cost-effective projects which are reliable, robust and aesthetically pleasing.

The applications of natural treatment technologies include domestic and municipal sewage, industrial effluent, slidge treatment and disposal, storm water, mine dranage, landfill leachates and lake restoration.
